The purpose of this 2nd workshop is to present new science relating to all aspects of air pollution affecting the Arctic, to identify research needs on this topic, and to plan new activities. A proposed international Lagrangian study of transport from eastern Asia to the Arctic and North America (IMPAACT: Investigation of Multiscale Processes Affecting Atmospheric Chemical Transport) will be discussed. Both oral and poster presentations will be solicited. The meeting will be held at the Coast Victoria Harbourside Hotel in downtown Victoria. There are many other hotels available within easy walking distance to the meeting location.

NEW: Abstracts for the workshop may be viewed using the "Abstracts" tab above.

IMPORTANT: A new travel requirement for foreign nationals of visa-exempt countries entering Canada by air is that they have an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) - similar to the US ESTA system. This costs $7 CAD and can be obtained online. It is usually approved within minutes for most applicants. US citizens are exempt from this requirement. To find out if you require an eTA and to make an application, go to this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/eta.asp.

You must have your eTA in place before traveling to Canada.

The preliminary agenda for the meeting is available for download under "Resources" in the left sidebar.

Transportation between the Victoria International Airport and downtown hotels by taxi takes about 40 minutes and costs about $60 each way. In addition, the YYJ Airport Shuttle is available for $25, with departures every 25 to 60 min, depending on time of day. The airport is served by four on-airport rental car companies.

There will be a group dinner (participants must pay) on June 28th at 20:15 at the Milestones Restaurant.

For those invited to attend the AMAP Expert Group meeting, there will be a hosted dinner on June 29th in the Fairfield Room of the Coast Hotel.

Poster presentations:
Please set up posters before the sessions begin. They will be on display for the entire duration of the meeting. Please prepare your poster to fit within an area of 1.2 m x  1.2 m (4 ft x 4 ft). The posters are fixed on stands using push pins (provided).

Oral presentations:
Please prepare for a 15 minute time slot (invited speakers 20 mins), which should be 10-12 (invited 15-17) minutes of presentation and 3-5 minutes of discussion. Since discussion is one of the best aspects of a workshop forum, please be sure to leave time for some! Please check the attached agenda for the time and day of your presentation.

The presentation laptop will be a Macintosh, and Powerpoint will be version 15.35. Acrobat Reader will also be available. The format of the projector is widescreen; please prepare your presentation in this format to make best use of available screen space. A lapel microphone and small speaker will be available. Please bring your presentation on a USB stick and upload it prior to the start of the session. Be especially aware of any linked files, such as movies, that may need to be copied over to the presentation laptop and tested, and leave time to do this.

Presentations will be viewable on the Web via GotoMeeting; instructions for viewing will be sent in a later e-mail.

Remote presenters: you will receive a separate e-mail with instructions for downloading the presentation software and testing the connections prior to the meeting.
